Building a Better Waterfront

By taking over management of the piers, we have the ability to make them available to the City of Hamilton, City of Burlington and/or Halton Region for recreational uses. In future, they will be better incorporated into the recreational infrastructure that connects to the Waterfront Trail and Beachway Park, and complements the Fisherman’s Pier development with a relocated and restored lighthouse, keeper’s cottage and new spaces for public events and programming.

Next steps

In the near term, there is work to do on basic safety elements, which will be HOPA’s initial financial contribution to this renewed and improved public space. There’s nowhere better in the Hamilton-Burlington area to watch a big ship come into the Harbour, and we’re thrilled that residents of Hamilton and Burlington will be able to enjoy that experience for many years to come.
