Maximize Your Production Budget with Ontario’s Film & TV Tax Incentives
- The Ontario Production Services Tax Credit (OPSTC) offers a refundable tax credit of 21.5% on qualified Ontario production expenditures for eligible film and television productions, benefiting both Ontario-based Canadian corporations and foreign-controlled entities.
- The IP Fund - Screen Marketing and Discoverability program supports activities that increase audiences and revenues for screen content projects that received Production investments from Ontario Creates.
- The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC) provides producers of eligible Canadian film or video productions with a fully refundable tax credit, available at a rate of 25 per cent of the qualified labour expenditure.
- The OCASE Tax Credit is a refundable tax credit based on eligible Ontario labour expenditures incurred by a qualifying corporation during a taxation year with respect to eligible computer animation and special effects activities.
- The Ontario Film & Television Tax Credit (OFTTC) provides a refundable tax credit of 35% on qualified Ontario labour expenditures for eligible film and television productions, exclusively accessible to eligible Ontario-based Canadian corporations.
- OFTTC productions filmed entirely outside the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), or with a minimum of five location days in Ontario (or matching the episode count for TV series), with at least 85% of location days outside the GTA, are eligible for a 10% bonus on all Ontario labour expenditures. Fully animated productions with 85% of key animation done outside the GTA also qualify.
- The Film or Video Production Services Tax Credit (PSTC) provides eligible production corporations with a tax credit at a rate of 16 per cent of the qualified Canadian labour expenditures incurred in respect of an accredited production.
