Donation to Alzheimer Society of Ontario

Dear Port Partner,

We’d like to share with you that the Hamilton Port Authority has made a donation of $5,000 to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario. This donation is made as a gesture of caring and friendship in support of the Port’s former President & CEO, Bruce Wood, who was diagnosed with an early-onset form of the disease earlier this year.

The Alzheimer Society of Ontario is committed to promoting excellence in research into the causes and cure of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. HPA is pleased that its donation will help fund research to advance scientific and clinical knowledge and improve the quality of life of both those with the disease and their caregivers.

HPA has chosen to make its donation on Giving Tuesday. Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday. On November 29, a growing number of Canadians are choosing to celebrate Giving Tuesday. The ‘opening day of the giving season,’ it is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others.
