2020 First Ship Contest

The Contest is now closed! Winners will be announced shortly!

Thank you to everyone who entered!

When will the first vessels make their way into Hamilton & Oshawa Harbour in 2020?

The Ports of Hamilton & Oshawa play an essential role by supporting industries that touch our lives every day.

As transportation bookends to the region, the two ports serve Canada’s largest consumer market and manufacturing centre with essential commodities and raw materials. Vessels come and go from the Ports of Hamilton & Oshawa carrying everything from iron ore for steel, to industrial machinery, aggregates for road building, gasoline for your car, to Ontario-grown grain.

It won’t be long until the first ships of the 2019 season make their way through the St. Lawrence from overseas or Quebec ports, or through the Welland Canal from the upper Great Lakes.

When will the first one pass through the shipping canal into Hamilton Harbour?  Take your best guess, and you could win a prize pack from the Hamilton Store!

When will the first line be secured on the dock at the Port of Oshawa? Take your best guess, and you could win a prize pack from The Maker’s Hub!

(Hint: Last year, the St. Lawrence Seaway from Montreal open on March 26, and the Welland Canal opened for the season on March 22)

(Ontario residents only; must be 18+)
